Development and Evaluation of Hydrogel Wound Dressings Loaded with Herbal Extracts

نویسندگان

چکیده

The current study aimed to develop carbomer based hydrogel dressings, incorporating ethanolic extracts of Rosmarinus officinalis aerial parts, Achillea millefolium and Calendula flowers. pharmaceutical properties the obtained hydrogels, as well their texture antimicrobial activity, were further evaluated. Five wound dressing formulations on carbopol prepared. addition formulation slightly lowered pH expected. parts extract loaded proved be firmest one. In terms consistency viscosity, behavior five hydrogels was relatively similar. Based analysis, has been affected some extent by extracts, decreasing consistency, firmness, adhesiveness. with one blend (mixture three above-mentioned extracts) have a good activity. studied could serve basis for development novel materials, although more extended in vivo studies would needed order support results.

Mass Transfer During the Pre-Usage Dehydration of Polyvinyl Alcohol Hydrogel Wound Dressings

Nowadays, hydrogels are widely used as wound dressings in biomedical applications. Similar to other types of the moist (wet) wound dressings, it is necessary to have sufficient information about their dehydration kinetics during the pre-usage period (e.g. storage duration) and also the wound healing process. In this work, hydrogel wound dressings based on polyvinyl alcohol were prepared by...
